Re: The Great BitWig Migration
The GUI is smoother and more responsive on my rMBP than Live is, maybe it's your computer/OS or something?
Re: The Great BitWig Migration
Hahaha I said their Java ish is ripe for massive optimization. That was it. Otherwise f--- em.mholloway wrote:I like the apologist dude who says these things don't matter "because they can be optimized in the future."

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
Who even cares about Bitwig anymore?
There's a Bitwig forum, for all of your sh-Bitwig discussions.
I hear He Who Shall Not Be Named is there too.

Oh, is that who that is? I don't really know. I don't go over to the bitwig side, just the really old thread with all the cat pics. That one is funny most of the time.

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
Nope funken hasn't posted on the Bitwig forum in quite a while. Right after kb420's thread oddly enough… hmm.
From funken's Bitwig site on why he took down the review:
So my guess is his extreme cheerleading for BWS while bashing Live actually made Bitwig want to disassociate themselves from him.
And then there's this:

funken wrote:Yeah, sorry, bit of a long story. Bitwig didn't like me saying that I
thought their DAW was better than Ableton Live, which was basically the
slant of the review, so I pulled it. The tutorials give a good idea what
it does anyway. Also I'm not actually using it any more for a while as
it's still a bit buggy and I need to get some tunes finished off, so I'm
using Studio One for now.

funken wrote:Please donate!
I need a small amount each month to pay hosting fees, domain name and so on. I am unemployed and disabled and cannot afford them. I will not be updating this site in the near future. I hope you find the tutorials useful. Sorry I had to remove the review. I am not currently using Bitwig Studio personally (nor am I using Ableton Live), but I do think it will be a great DAW once the bugs are sorted.

I think he just used another name. Actually, I think he was using the name "mauxuam".

Since that thread, I haven't been back to the forum. I've had enough of Bitwig. IMHO, it was a tremendous let down. Maybe in a few years I'll take another look, but definitely now right now.

Eh, doesn't seem like his writing to me. Plus that guy talked about selling his Live Suite license. I'm pretty sure that dude has never owned any of these programs and somehow gets review copies for his tutorial sites. How does someone afford $400-$600 pieces of software when they claim to have no money and have to ask for donations for web hosting?

Good point. I thought it sounded like him because of all the Ableton Live hate, and the mention of him being a beta tester. That user "mauxuam" only has a few posts, so I just thought it was funken changing his name again.

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
I'm with you though, I got bored of the Bitwig thing pretty quickly (i.e. the hype and the DAW itself).
I'll revisit it once they implement the modular environment.

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
bitwig redefines fanboy. It's absurdity. Not only are people not that interested anymore (other than some lolz) but people that jumped on the ship really early are already leaving it.
Twas fun though. Between the cats, the hype, the obvious frustration and the fizzle it's been interesting to observe.

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
I think it will be around for a while yet.
Re: The Great BitWig Migration
I'm not saying it's not going to be around or even maybe blossom into something special, I'm just saying it's not even close to the hype was.
Re: The Great BitWig Migration
How could it ever live up to the hype? The hype on this very forum was much more than it could ever possibly live up to.

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
Reaper had the same level of hype at KVR when it came out, and the backlash. There's even a meme of people saying," Queue 'Reaper does that' in three posts "…
