Can't Hear Metronome When Asio Driver is Chosen

Post by Literary Mayhem » Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:42 pm

When I have my Asio Driver chosen in preferences (Asio4all) I can't hear the metronome, when I choose the MME/DirectX I can hear the metronome.

Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I can record into Abelton fine and then playback what I recorded and hear it through my computer speakers.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Make sure the Cue output is going to the same output as your master.

You're using ASIO4ALL.

ASIO4ALL is NOT an ASIO driver. It's an emulator that piggybacks onto the standard Windows WDM driver for the purpose of allowing software which insists on an ASIO interface (rare these days) to function via normal cheap and cheerful bog standard consumer interfaces. It does not turn consumer interfaces into pro ones.

True ASIO drivers come supplied with professional low latency audio interfaces, and are specific to that interface.

As Live (not Ableton or Abelton) works perfectly well with normal Windows audio, there's no need to emulate an ASIO interface, hence ASIO4ALL is not required.

Glad I could help!

And to 102455, asio4all can help if you have shitty WDM drivers (especially on older computers, in my experience). It also lets you use multiple soundcards (eg builtin + external), which can be useful in some situations.
