Midi mapping in Ableton Questions

Post by amigoplacebo » Sun Apr 13, 2014 8:00 pm

In Traktor, I really enjoy the way you can have one button control various things. For example, the 1st fader on my midi controller adjusting the ring mod and reverb effect. Is it possible to do this in Ableton? I'm aware of Macro Group mappings, but my problem lies in the fact that I want to control several parameters in all different tracks. So an effect in Channel 1, an effect in my Return channel and an effect in the Master Channel.

Also, the ability to midi map a button on the APC40 to device title bars is really great, except when I do something on a different track, the blue hand automatically moves to the device I last touched. Is it possible to midi map a LOCK to control surface on a device after you press the button you've mapped for the title bar? This would reeeealllyy help me out :)

Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

Question 1. Easy right? Just go to your midi map and map all the perimeters to the same nob. maybe im not fully understanding what you want done.

Question 2. Go to your preferences, the "Record Warp Launch" tab, and under launch, unselect "select on launch" that what you wanted?

cheers.

1. Just map several parameters to the same control. Did you even try it ?... Then you can adjust the range and min/max.
2. Not familiar with control surfaces but when you right-click on a device's title bar, you can check 'lock to control surface'
