Live 9 Intro Issues

Post by epuentesjr » Fri Apr 25, 2014 11:17 pm

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and to teaching myself Abelton. I have some issues I was hoping you could help me with. Here goes nothing:

So I've been following Sadowick Productions tutorial videos on Youtube to teach myself Youtube. I'm on video 5 (where he teaches compression and EQ 8) and I noticed I don't have EQ 8. Is this because I only have Abelton Live 9 INTRO and not the deluxe version? Could I find it online?

Also, I've pretty much gotten the gist of Audio Effects, Midi Effects, but I still have trouble understanding how to upload VSTs/Plug Ins (Korg M-1 or Slyenth) to the program itself. I have jBridge but it doesn't seem to work and I feel computer illiterate.

Lastly, do you think it's better to just sample other EDM songs rather than having to create my own song from scratch. I've noticed that although I'm new to learning the program/making music, there's a strong difference from what's popular (Dash Berlin, Armin, etc) and the "Zelda for Nintendo" sounds that I'm making. I know that a lot of time/energy goes into making music like that but I just don't know the path to get to that point of making fuller, richer sounds.

Thank you guys for all of your help,
Enrique

Eq8 is included in the full version. The good news is with minimal effort you can probably find freeware that is usable.

@VST's. I'm not really up on my jbridge knowledge but you should be able to wrap those. I'm assuming you are using the x64 version of intro and these are 32 bit?

As for sampling your own, not quite sure what you mean. You mean using samples or actually sampling the music? I'd think that if you mean the later, part of the fun and exploration of live is creating your own stuff.

Btw, here is a list of what the different versions of live do:

EQ8-Do you know where online I could get it?

VST's-Yeah I'm using a 64bit and the VST's are 32bit-but even still with jBridge (which is supposed to help) doesn't seem to be working. I know it's got to be something simple, I just can't figure out why some VST's will easily upload and why others (Korg M-1 or Slyenth) doesn't. Do you know if there's a way I can video chat with someone so I can screenshare what my laptop is doing?

And not necessarily sampling a song, but another piece of a ….. ehhh …. sound byte? I definitely want to create my own stuff, I just don't want it sounding flat and two dimensional.

And thank you for your help in answering all of this. I may want to upgrade my version of Ableton but I'm holding out as long as I can until I feel like I've understood what there is to learn in Live Intro.

The best Live Intro EQ 8 freeware replacement I have found is to download the ReaVSTs from the Reaper DAW website. ReaEQ allows you to have as many controllable bands as you wantt and is light on CPU.

I don't believe that you can "get" EQ8 unless you upgrade to the full version of live.

And as Autcrock mentioned, that eq will do what EQ8 does. It's not as elegant though.
