Live 4 & Mackie D8B: Do They Work Well Seamlessly?

Post by Phree » Sun Aug 14, 2005 9:45 pm

Yet again, I'm looking at another Mackie Controller/Mixing board to use with Live 4, which is the Mackie D8B.

I emailed Ableton last month about the Mackie (Original) HUI and was told it's not supported. It took a lot of back and forth emails (and confusion on Ableton's behalf) to get Ableton to confirm that. So, I let that idea go.

Does anyone here use the Mackie D8B & Live 4 seamlessly together, or know if they will work well if I got a D8B? Yes, I have emailed Ableton if you want to know and have yet to receive a reply.

I'm trying to find that nice MIDI controller/mixer/audio board all-in-one to use that will take me a long way (something I can use approx 5 years). They've come down in price from $10k to about $3k with audio included.

The only other controller I'm considering is the Tascam FW-1884 as it does have audio included, though I'd prefer a Mackie product. I'm hearing mixed results about the Tascam FW-1082 and I don't like the MCU given that I feel it's overprice and has no audio built-in at all.

Thanks...
