...remember that silly argument about Push being a better instrument than Maschine because it had more buttons. We were wrong, it's just a 'different' type of instrument.

..but this is a much better step in the right direction.

I just wonder how many body parts I'll need to sell in order to acquire one.

For how long has Roger been developing that stuff, like 10 years. Another developer Madona labs made something very similar in short time and you cana actually buy it, The linn instrument is vaporware.

Alternative keyboard dosposition is nothing new, Buchla already proposed some like 30 years ago, the isomorphic keybord was first designed in the 80's.

For what is intended Push is well designed.

for me the appeal of Push is the integration with Live, and having knobs to tweak parameters as well. a straight-up flat grid button controller doesn't appeal to me at all, because i don't find rubber buttons that expressive.

if i had too much money i'd get an Eigenharp, or maybe one of those fancy new keyboards that is laid out like a piano keyboard but incorporates other sensors too (can't remember the name)...

I agree and I use push as a DAW/Sequencer controller. If i want to play something i play the keyboard. I love keyboards as instruments.

I have a feeling Peter Kirn has been told the intended RRP, but obviously has been sworn to secrecy. There's a small hint of "close to macbook air prices", it's hard to say how accurate that is.

I do wish Roger Linn would get a few cold-hearted staff working on this, it's been a long wait, and I just picture him in his house slowly making new Linsstrument prototypes and repeatedly saying "Nah, not quiiite right. I think I'll make another slightly different one". Enough of the labour of love already!

Thanks for the video link. A man very much 'into' what he does; I could listen to him talk about it all day, his enthusiasm is infectious.

Interesting his comment about samplers at the end. I still think his LinnStrument has scope for manipulating layered samples in a very expressive way, in attack and timbre.
