I'd like to change the "mixer" factory preset on my Novation Launch Control so that releasing a pad (as opposed to pressing the pad) toggles the track on and off. For me, it's a lot more fun and accurate to release buttons to kill audio channels than to press them. Here are the options I see
1. Program preset in Novation Launch Control Editor - This seems like the preferred solution for customizing mappings. However, I don't think it's possible to edit the factory presets as I suspect there's more going on in those than just midi. The default state of the editor sends the same midi messages as the 'mixer' preset (verified using a midi listening application), yet they don't do what the preset does. It's quite possible I don't understand how to correctly use this application, but I can't find any documentation on the editor.
2. Read the Launch Control Programmers Reference which contains the midi spec for the device and reverse engineer the 'mixer' factory preset in Max 4 Live. I don't have time for this option.
3. Buy a different midi controller that has the release-channel-toggling functionality I desire. Any suggestions?

Re: Novation Launch Control - Altering 'mixer' factory preset
Hey D, Thanks for the recommendation! I just realized I made a typo in my original post (since updated). I'm looking to alter the factory preset for a Launch Control, not a Launch Pad. I saw a Launch Control in one of the videos for Oktopad, but it's unclear to me if it works for Launch Control in addition to Launch Pad. Looks like you're associated with this product, do you know?
Re: Novation Launch Control - Altering 'mixer' factory preset
Hey Peter,
Sorry Oktopad is purely for the Launchpad rather than the Control... I've got one at home but so far have found the MIDI mapping capabilities the best out there so haven't yet considered hacking it with M4L...
Cheers
