Turntable recommendations...
I am looking to get a decent turntable for use with Live.
I have no clue what is good or bad, I just need something
that is of decent quality. Any recommendations or caveats?

As in a vinyl turntable?
I'd have to recommend the Technics 1210 (mk2 or later), theyre a little more expensive and dont have some of the (absurdly pointless and crap) features you see on some of the Vsetax and Stanton models, but theyre pretty much bullet proof and ooze quality.
Your best bet is to pick one up second hand from eBay or Loot, as youre bound to pick up a bargain rather than buying brand new.

I'm no veteran wax DJ or nothing... but I always liked this one:
http://www.vestax.com/v/players/pdx2000.html
It's got the quickest reverse of any turntable I've seen, it's almost instantanious.
It's the turntable that Mix Master Mike from the Beastie Boys uses, so how can you go wrong?

Technics all the way- buy second hand and you will probably be able to resell for the same price years later (not true of vestax or denon)- they are built like tanks and an iconic design classic- they are the Telecaster of the turntable world.
Remember a lot of the sound quality comes from the cartridge you use- you should budget at least $100 for that if you are serious about sound quality.

I'd have to ask what you are wanting to use them for. The technics 1200's are the absolute standards still to this day. They are rock solid. But if you are just sampling and or recording to vinyl then I wouldn't thinking blowing 3 or 4 hundred on the technics would be worth it. You can pick up something a lot cheaper to get that done. just my $.02
3ghz Pentium 4 (Prescott), XP Sp2, 1gig Ram, Dual Monitor with Matrox Millenium, MOTU Traveler, Event EZ8 Adat card. Also IBM THinkpad t40 1.6 1 gig ram

Look, I think I'm speaking for most of the forum when I say that we've all been in a situation where we needed to mount our turntables vertically and been able to play our wax and scratch on the wall. Well, Vestax finally addressed this need with the design of the PDX2000.(absurdly pointless and crap) features you see on some of the Vsetax and Stanton models
point taken, i'm very sorrySales Dude McBoob wrote:Look, I think I'm speaking for most of the forum when I say that we've all been in a situation where we needed to mount our turntables vertically and been able to play our wax and scratch on the wall. Tech 12's...
Though I personally bought the Numark TTX-1's for two reasons;
1. Straight tonearm for scratching - It's just sooooo much easier without skipping, but a lot of turntablist purists consider it cheating
2. Alterable position of the pitch slider. This is useful. My girlfriend and I both share the decks, and there's the fight between her (who wants a house style setup) and me (I want a battle style setup) all the time... This was a real problem solver, with the pitch slider on the right side when the turntable is in battle position, everybody's happy.
