New Godzilla trailer with Heisenberg
Re: New Godzilla trailer with Heisenberg
I was stupid enough to go see it in the theater. I liked "signs"
I liked "the sixth sense" and "unbreakable" too.

I loved Signs, I thought that was a cool movie.

Signs was the last decent movie and then it's a road of disaster. That and everything before it were fine.
Was the Happening the one with Wahlberg? Didn't someone voluntarily drive into a tree? That was hilarious.
Oh and the Village...I remember thinking from early on "Wait, what if it's just now but they're trying to be protected from the outside world? Nah, there'd have to be more to it than that, right?" NOPE.
Lady In The Water? Poor Giamatti talent wasted:(
Oh well. Signs is kind of cheesy in retrospect though. 'Swing'
'They don't like water'
So why the fuck did they pick a planet that's 75% water?
Unbreakable is the best of his imo. Classic story told well in its own way.
I wonder if Shyamalan could make a decent monster flick. I mean, after he went into the desert for a 3-day binge on peyote to puke out any residual pride and related traits that may seem to fuck up any sense of remaining talent. Or was that what Airbender was?

I didn't see airbender. When I saw "devil" I thought I'd ditch it after 5 minutes. It wasn't too bad. Also, "lady in the water" wasn't a masterpiece, but I was so convinced it would suck ass, I didn't mind it that much. Pretty much a musing for himself (hey, I'm rich famous and popular, I'll just do some random shit)
"The village" was ..... kinda ok. At the very least, it was original. I mean, I saw it on DTV so no theater loss, but it wasn't horrible.
The "happening" was horrible. I mean, he couldn't sell it. It was SO STUPID! Running AWAY from the wind......"come on, let's run and maybe it won't catch up with us"
Wow, it was bad.
But transformers 2 came along and shot that down as worst ever, then "prometheus" came along as WORST FILM EVER MADE BAR NONE. I'm still pissed the android and that stupid bitch lived.

Totally agreed. Prometheus was a tragedy of epic proportions - made even more so because of the one-time brilliance of it's creator...
That's what I was going on about, shadx, with Pans.... You have a filmmaker who creates a masterpiece like Pans, then turns around and creates utter shit with Pacific Rim. What sucked about PR was that it was just fucking stupid from start to finish with characters no one gives a shit about... The dialog, however, was the worst. omfg. Not has bad as the hackneyed cliche nonsense dialog of Avatar, but pretty fucking close..

How many times in Pacific Rim did someone say crap like "Let's win this one for Humanity!!!!!" I lost count.

The problem, really, is that these fucking monster movies are now all made by metrosexual sissies who have no idea:
a. these are guy movies
b. how to be a man
c. how to think like a man
ffs
You know who's a fucking MAN'S MAN that needs to write a giant monster screenplay?
John Milius.

We'd finally get something that didn't feel the need to focus on the distraught wife every fucking 10min as if ANYONE gives a shit.
BTW, he's the subject of one of the greatest documentaries ever - now on Netflix.
omfg.
OMFG

Retarded Pacific Rim moment:
When the giant robot uses the spinning saw arm thing and kills the monster in like 5sec.
Uh.... Perhaps that should have been the first weapon you tried? <---that is shit writing
Retarded Godzilla moment:
Hey, I know. Let's restart the train and then TURN ON THE FUCKING LIGHTS AND HONK THE FUCKING HORN BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, THERE COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE A GIANT FUCKING MONSTER OUT THERE.
omfg.
OMFG
You see, chaps, we fans of great scifi and horror don't ask for much. We really don't. We aren't looking for the meaning of life or the answer to whether or not God exists in these kind of films. We need the basics, really. What we do not need, however, is a ton of really reaaaaaalllly basic shit that makes zero sense.
Oh, 8mm. That was another awful piece of shit.

Gotcha. I saw PR through the filter like it was supposed to be campy-ish comic-book like so I had that kind of tolerance.
Yes between Pan and PR maybe there was the effect of something like 'the higher up you get on the success chain the more you have to compromise in order to make things work but the quality dissipates'
It's pretty much a law, right?
Unless you're fortunate enough to be in a situation like Kubrick where you have most of your own resources and respect so you can do things your way and do them well.
Which, btw, would be interesting to see how he would do a monster flick.
I'm gonna look for that doc later though.

Sure seems like it. Lucas, Coppola, etc. Even Kubrick to a large extent. I mean, you can't always hit them out of the park but most great artists burn hard at the beginning then ...fizzle.
Tarantino might be another somewhat exception. His Inglorious Bastards was magnificent in every respect.

it was a let down. i watched the series with my kid and the more i watched the more i liked it... it was really good... so when the movie came out we were amped.eyeknow wrote:I didn't see airbender.
the whole thing was this white washed piece of shit.
we wanted to love it, but i think we lied to ourselves and said we liked it to hide our disappointment
it could have been epic.

I didn't realize how much Zilla had been through; suppose I should pay attention to MSM more.

Fuck yes. Milius. And yes great documentary.LoopStationZebra wrote:John Milius.
I recently found out that Walter Sobchak was based on John Milius and I was like "Well duh, how did I not see that before?"

Re: New Godzilla trailer with Heisenberg
I thought Captain America: The Winter Soldier was one of the tops in its genre.
I took issue with one moment that probably everybody else ignored. Nick Fury decides to show Captain America the massive warehouse where they were building the secret sky aircraft carriers. They have some disagreement and Captain America just walks off in some arbitrary direction. Exactly where did he think he was going in this massive complex he had never been in until 5 minutes ago? I guess he just assumed there must be an exit in the direction he is heading. Maybe a food court.
And as always OSHA isn’t part of these gigantic installments because people are just freely meandering around with zero regard to hazards and safety.
