Who prefers not to use DrumRacks with Push?

Post by Daniel_S » Wed May 28, 2014 10:09 am

Since having Push, I have felt forced to use DrumRacks for my drum sequencing and initially, I feel it works well to play around and get some ideas down - especially with Push.

However, after initial loop ideas I find that having all drum parts within the one track quite limiting - at least it "feels" limiting to me not being able to easily see each drum part on it's own track within the arrangement view.

So, my question is how many of you opt to NOT use DrumRacks for their sequencing? And if you dont use DrumRacks, how do you prefer to lay down your beats?

I dont mind using DR for initial ideas and sketching but it's what do I do after this stage and start with the arrangement.

I'd like to keep hands on Push as much as poss though.

I'm interested to hear what your work flow is like within this area on Push :)

I have the same limited feel when using drumracks. Sometimes i just duplicate the drumrack (if i wanna split some of the elements). But since 2 months i just use one sound per track. So iam able to use the simpler to play the drums in a melodic way.

Do you still use Push to sequence the beats within Simpler?

You can always just create a MIDI track and route its output to the drumrack ("MIDI to" Drumrack then in the sub menu Drumrack again) This will give you a free track in the arrangement view to sequence yet keep all the processing nice and neat in the drum rack.
