Evolution UC-33 & Ableton
Evolution UC-33 & Ableton
Anyone here using this MIDI controller? Mixing with Live 5 is great but I miss the feel of an actual mixer, plus when playing out I want to use the mouse as little as possible. Is the Evolution a good bet or would you suggest others?
Have you seen the Ecler Nuo4? I used one the other day and whereas you can run decks and CDJ's off it, there is also a 5th channel just for midi. Not only that, but channels 2 and 3 can be turned to midi mode meaning the actual crossfader on the mixer and all EQ's control the said things in Ableton (It has 89 different possible midi controls). It even comes with templates specifically for Ableton and Native Instruments Traktor etc.

I Dj ed a lot with my uc 33, the faders lack of responsivness so that you canot really rock with them like on a real mixer and the knobs feel very crap plastik.Dodge wrote:Anyone here using this MIDI controller? I just found out that my brand new Trigger Finger can do it much better for me.
I can trigger and stop 4 different clips in 4 tracks without touching anything else, each of them has a HP and LP controlled by the 8 knobs, the 4 fast faders control the gain.
My uc 33 is now only aditional for sends and fx tweaking.
I recommend the bitstream 3X if you really want a controller similar to the uc33.

that's what ecler has to say :Sloth_uk wrote:Have you seen the Ecler Nuo4? I used one the other day and whereas you can run decks and CDJ's off it, there is also a 5th channel just for midi. The NUO4 features 72 different MIDI messages through the combination of 4 rotary and push encoders, 4 switches, a 3 position layout and an A/B bank selector. Channels 2 and 3 can also work in MIDI mode and so control for instance the channels of a software virtual mixer. The NUO4 allows the DJ to control external devices in a very intuitive and ergonomic manner. It opens a new world of possibilities, making software friendly user tools like traditional turntables and CD players.
so it means you get only 4 konbs & 4 switches to play with .

All of these are done in one take, no post-editing of any kind. (rendering to mp3 doesn't count!)
I hope you enjoy.
The UC-33 is absolutely essential to my live sets. I wasn't posing for an action shot!
