No, otherwise nothing could be stated to be a contrived cliché ever,
Sure it could, by asking in a less contrived, cliche way.

Just as he may not have been conscious as to whether what he was saying about his gear (in 1960whatever) was a contrived cliche or not, did you ask your self if what you were asking was a contrived cliche? Or did you just want to express your question as it came to you without contaminating the process?

Pretty impressive for something done more than 50 years ago. Listen to the production.

Maybe you think he is boring and clichèd but it seems pretty inventive to me; and humbling to see someone making such inventive music with such rudimentary equipment. So I consider myself inspired. Your mileage may vary. I was just sharing 8)

How often do I have to repeat, that I was only commenting on that little bit of feel good fluff that you quoted him with?!

Sure critizice me for being overly cynical about empty things people say, but please stop putting words in my mouth. I DID NOT SAY ONE THING ABOUT HIS MUSIC!!!

If Aphex Twin would have said his music is like children to him who love him back, I would have reacted the same way, even though I have the highest respect for the dudes' music.

You can blame my cynism on the PR ladden media, which always wants to get to the human interest angle and ignores anything deep and interesting.

I call the empty claim that his music is like children to him a contrived cliché.
You, who complained about people who use the word texture to describe music, should understand that above all.
Maybe being a cultural pessimist is a cliché nowadays, how couldn't it be, with how often one is forced to be one.
But I don't see how it was contrived. It was certainly genuinly felt by me when I wrote it and in such a way in which music can NOT feel like a child...

\\Hi Tom

My post was not a response to you and I am not criticizing you for anything. And I am not putting words in your mouth

I was just sharing some posts with music in, because I thought people would enjoy it.

I felt the discussion was becoming a bit ill tempered, which made me sad :( because my original post was made with the intention of sharing something cool

So I thought I might share more cool stuff

I would rather talk about music and help people make music than get involved in acrimonious discussions. And I know I have been getting acrimonious with Princess Splatterpup myself, so I thought I should redress the balance and post more cool stuff

So, just for the record, I hope that someone actually openened the links, that someone actually found the music enjoyable, and that someone's day was somewhat sweetened by my post

As for Tod feeling his song were like his children, I thought it was kind of cute. Musicians have the right to childen, you know. I feel somewhat the same about my little creations. But I get that you were not impressed, and you are entitled to your opinion AND you have the right to express it. Peace! I hope.

Yeah, sorry for raining on your parade, I know you meant well and he is probably a swell guy and very talented musician.
I just can't take all this feel good faux emotional stuff, which I feel in the end cheapens the music itself (IMO of course)

I am still working on my remix. At least Aphex Twin did lots of those.
