Crossfader and Midi

Has anyone tried to assign a Midi knob (e.g. in Launch Control user mode) to the crossfader via the learn mode? The touch strip on Push snaps back to center position when you release it, but that is probably the way it is designed). But the Launchpad solution (mapping a horizontal row of buttons in user mode) works for both Push and Launchpad (but in 8 discrete steps), so I think a knob might work as well...

Update: FYI, the touchstrip is hardwired to be a modulation wheel (snaps back), which means that the crossfader has to be linked to a knob in user mode via the MIDI learn mode. Maybe Ableton will make this function for the touchstrip optional in the future....
