playing varies chords on Push?

Post by natas007 » Sun Jun 22, 2014 4:39 pm

Hello guys

i am trying to find out if you can play various chords on the Push and if there is a chart or something?
like we can play the triangle basic chords and everyone knows how to but can you play a may 7 or a dim 7 maj9 and so on?
is there a book or a web address where you can see how to play various chords on the push?

please don't tell me " yes you can simply find it out by trying" ....

One of the problems with Push "In Key" is playing accidentals (variations from the key you have chosen.
This means that if your playing in (e.g.) C major, you can't play the dominant 7th in its relative harmonic minor, which requires a G#. Same with the diminished 7th (B,D,F,G#); if you use the G in C Major, this is merely an inversion of the G7 chord (G,B,D,F).

So for complete control, you either have to use the chromatic scale or alternate between scales (and Push doesn't make the latter easy, since there is no way to order the scales without editing the Push Remote Script (see the discussion in my link below). You can use Clyphx to set up a chord change track, though.

So accidentals (notes not included in the chosen scale) in Push are the issue for "InKey" playing...
(e.g., you can't use dominant 7ths in keys outside "InKey" to act as "secondary dominants" (pivot chords) to change from one key to another, since this involves accidentals... (you are stuck with maj7 and min7 and the major dominant 7ths in "InKey" mode....

( a dominant 7th chord is a Major Chord with a minor 7th (G,B,D,F), (E,G#,B,D) (E7->Am) as compared with (Em7->Am)

This guy has a number of fantastic Push videos, but this list in particular has to do with chords, including playing 7ths, etc.
