Question about using step sequencer with old clips.

Is it possible to edit pre-existing clips whether they were made with push or not, with the step sequencer that's shown in this pic? Like if I select a clip that was made within a previous project (not with push), and the notes in the clip are unquantized. Will the notes show up on the step sequencer grid like in the pic?

Notes show up on the grid pad where they start (they don't have to start at the beginning of the step for this)

Thanks. Lets say I deselect one of these steps, that for instance starts 10ms after the beat, then I reselect that step.. Will that reelection start 10ms after the beat as the original, or will it be on beat (quantized)?

In other words, does push remember the timing of unquantised notes after they have been de-selected, so that when you re-select them, they have the same unquantised timing as before?

all of this is done in Live, Push is just a midi controller, it doesn't remember anything, Live does. And yes, unless you nudge that note (from Push or otherwise) it will stay exactly where it was.

Ok so it sounds like it doesn't erase the note, it just does the same thing as "deactivate note" in Live. The note is still there, just deactivated. Thanks for your response.

Well, selecting (press and hold), just selects it, but yes you can mute the note, by pressing the pad and then pressing Mute.
If you press the pad quickly though (so that the light goes out), you will delete the note.
