Sup guys!
I recently got Ableton Live 9 for a good discount just to mess around with (I'm mainly a metal producer, but I do like to make EDM every now and then). Recently I've been trying to get into DJing with it, but I have a couple questions.
I got everything working properly with my MPD26 so I think it's just a mapping problem.
Let's say I have two decks that I want to individually control effects (reverb, delay, bit crush, beat repeat) for with 3 of the faders on top.
Two of them would basically be for the volume of the effect, and the other one would be to go through a selection of fx.
I guess I should start with this: If I want to do this should I have the fx directly on my virtual deck tracks or on the return tracks?
From there, would my two volumes just be mapped to the tracks sends?
So I could have all my effects on return A and map both faders to the A send on each deck.
Now how would I map my 3rd fader to be used as a selection for this different fx?
i.e. when the fader is at the bottom notch it's reverb, next notch up is delay, ect.
Also, is there a way to map a knob so that the global tempo increases in increments of 1 bpm? I've assigned a knob to it but it's SUPER sensitive and increments in weird decimal places.
Hope that makes sense haha. Thanks!

It depends what you want to achieve with the effects. The effect will be different if you use it as a send or as an insert. With an insert you can go from dry to full wet (no original dry signal present) by just turning the dry/wet knob. As a send, if you set the effect's dry/wet to full wet, when you turn the Send A knob (for example) fully, you will have the wet signal on your send + the dry signal playing on the channel.MarcusSt0ne wrote:

Try both ways for each effect and see what you want for each effect.
You can group your effects into a rack and then create a Chain for each effect. Racks have a Chain Select Editor where you can map each Chain to a different MIDI number (0-127, MIDI has 128 steps from min to max) or zone of MIDI numbers and then map the Chain Selector to a MIDI control (Macro, Knob, etc), You can read up more on this in the Manual in the Racks section: Chain Select ZonesNow how would I map my 3rd fader to be used as a selection for this different fx?
i.e. when the fader is at the bottom notch it's reverb, next notch up is delay, ect.
Again, MIDI has a range of 128 steps from min/max (0-127) so you can use this fact to fine-tune the BPM increments. When you assign a MIDI control to the Global Tempo, go into the MIDI Mapping Browser and simply edit the Min to Max range of the Tempo control to be a range of BPM steps 0-127.Also, is there a way to map a knob so that the global tempo increases in increments of 1 bpm? I've assigned a knob to it but it's SUPER sensitive and increments in weird decimal places.
For example Min: 100, Max: 227. This will give you 1 BPM increments from 100-227 BPM. If you want 0.1 increments, make the range 0-12.7 BPM. For example Min: 115, Max 127.7. This will give you 0.1 increments from 115-127.7 BPM.
Hope that helps!
