Controller defaults - any way to load ?

Post by wildcon » Thu Aug 18, 2005 9:48 am

Hi,

Could belong in the 'Wishlist' , but -

Is there any way of saving / recalling midi and key stroke settings within a song that is already completed.

For example -

I use the Faderfox controllers and my X-Station to control the midi perameters. However it is not always practical to take the X-Station out with the laptop and so I use the Faderfox to control all the midi functions.

The problem then occurs when I'm using the X-station again, as the midi learn is set to the Faderfox.

Can these settings be overlaid on a track to avoid 're learning' all the functions.

This seems an obvious requirement, but I can't find any way of doing it.

Should be simple eh ?

Far as I know, you can only midi learn one cc command per parameter. Soon as you try to learn a knob on the x-station, it's gonna erase the faderfox on that parameter. Even if you tried to save a set for each controller, I don't know how you could work on the song and save it

Unless there's something I'm missing this sounds like a feature request to me. I think the feature would be called "save midi controller templates" or something like that. The other way to do it would be to have multiple assignments possible for the same parameter, but I could see where that could get messy. :(

Probably best to pick one or the other for now. Or use them both and make sure there are no duplicate parameters learned on both of them. That's my plan at least, to use the faderfox as my main mixer controller and to program my O2 knobs for the live synth tweaks or whatever if I wanna bring it along.

Hi icedsushi,

Thanks for the reply.

I have posted in the wishlist section.

It would be 'controller templates'.

If you can save and overwrite the default, it should be possible to save seperate ones.

The X-Station is good for controlling several instances of effects mainly EQ between tracks for fading in and out and sweeping (for DJ'ing). It's a bit awkward with just the fadefox unless you flip between the audio channels/tracks.

The problem with using both is that some DJ booths / spaces are very tight and it's difficult enough to get space for the laptop and Faderfox units, without trying to fit the Keyboard in as well.
