Is Live/Push ideal for this purpose?

I'm sure there's a million threads asking this question, but everyone's needs are different. First I think it would be way faster and more entertaining for you to just watch this performace:

The kind of music I want to perform is similar to that in the sense that it would be a lot of live (mic'ed) loops, drum samples, plus DI loops (like guitar/bass), and some occasional synth use.

- My budget is $2000
- I do not own a laptop and would want a mac. I think a refirbished macbook in the $1k range is more than enough?
- I already have a small mixer, mics, instruments, and a Focusrite Forte interface, and midi controller (radium49)


So I just haven't seen much non-DJ or electronic performances and use cases. I'm not really looking to make very electronic-centric music or to trigger premade loops. I'm wanting to do stuff that can probably be done on a basic loop pedal, but I also want to do arrangements by muting loops and doing variations without being locked-in to a loop I laid down.

Enter Option B. The no computer option:

- Boss RC-505 (5 channel looper with faders on each)
- AKAI MPX16 (16 pad drum machine)
- Mininova Synth
- Digital Warrior hardware midi sequencer [or FYRD MTRX] (for use with MPX16)

Already own:
- Xenyx 1202 mixer
- TC Helicon Voicetone CreateXT
- Mics/instruments gallore
- 3x3 midi interface
- Focusrite 2x2 audio interface
- AKAI MPX8
- AKAI LPD8
- Radium 49 midi controller

While I realize Ableton uses will want to recommend Ableton, I still want to hear thoughts about it. I'm really torn between the two options. Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
