Live 9 not waking up

Post by tkarmakid » Thu Jul 31, 2014 12:28 am

Basically just that. If I leave the program running and walk away for a few hours or so it just doesn't wake up and ultimately crashes. Does this happen to anybody else. I try to save the set and close it out, but sometimes I don't and then this happens. Its probably unreasonable for me to expect it to just wake right up and not crash  so, my fault I guess. Does this happen to anyone else here?

What type of computer and operating system are you using? Which power options are you using in the OS (high performance, balanced, etcetera)? How does the OS and other applications behave when Live is "not waking up"?
Live 10 Suite, Push 2, Roland V-drums, lots of plugins, hardware synths and drum machines...

^ yeah, those questions need to be answered.

my iMac won't go to sleep if Live is open. this behavior keeps Live from crashing and me from sleeping.

You know, sometimes it doesn't, but I'm not sure whether live is open during those times. I'll try to be aware of that next time.

It is a Samsung Chronos with windows 8, 64 bit, i7. Live 9. I'm not sure how to check the performance mode, I feel like you may be on to something here. How do I check this? The rest of the operating system will wake up and respond. Also, I defrag the drive at least every other week.

this is almost definitely the issue. you're computer is going to sleep or hibernation and forcing Live to crash. you have to close Live when it's time for the PC to go ni ni.

from the Start screen type 'Power Options' (you should see it before you get done typing the word "Power")
select that icon and make your changes there.

*note: watch out for options like 'sleep when the lid is closed' etc. these options are good for saving your battery, but Live will not like that mess one bit. if you want to keep that option on it's fine, but close Live before you close the lid.

typically the Operating System will override any 3rd party power options... BUT... i don't know about that on this Samsung. look for any "tools" that Samsung may have installed to "help" with this. make sure the settings there match what you set in the default Windows Power Options.

In general, you shouldn't be working on a project and let the computer go to sleep. Still, you need to send in those crash reports and probably contact them in case it's something else.

I try to remember to close live, but sometimes I forget. I do send those reports in.
