I just installed NI Komplete 9 and I have what is probably a pretty stupid question but I have never used anything NI before so I am totally new.
It would appear that you can only use the sample content under the appropriate native instruments shell, such as Kontakt. Is this true? Is it possible to load a drum hit or something into Ableton's sampler/simpler or am I stuck within the confines the Kontakt shell?
I ask because I have a nice drum kit setup in ableton according to the "ultimate drum kit" tutorial where you load the samples into zones and then set the zone selector to a macro so you can try out a variety of snare hits or whatever at the turn of a knob. It would be great if I could add in my NI samples to my collection but from the surface it seems that I can't.
I can see how they would want you to keep it into Kontakt though because it seems pretty interactive with mic placement features and whatnot for the drums. Of course I can just record the sounds from Kontakt and make them as samples but I was wondering if there was a more direct route. Any input is appreciated! Thanks guys!

Re: NI Komplete Samples
Kontakt samples are proprietary when they are from NI. They also have a nice compression for their sounds to reduce space. 3rd party developers do not often lock done their samples and keep them in WAV format.

Ah gotcha, thanks for the info!
