10 Things they don't Tell Music Producer's.Til it's Too Late

Post by innerstatejt » Sun Aug 10, 2014 4:16 pm

Hey guys & girls,

I haven't posted here in a while, but I thought I'd share this post I just wrote yesterday.
It seems to really hit home for a lot of people, so I hope it helps some of you here.

This is a gem. I'm guilty of #3 and 4.

Mostly, you have to be rich enough to have a lot of free time.... :)
(Of course, most of those won't become musicians OR beat makers OR sound designers - unless they or someone else can afford the hype and exposure so they can be "successful")

But then, I'm old and cranky.. :)

I also have the problem of trying to live up to the expectations of my pears, but they are just so succulent and juicy, I fear I may never achieve that dream.

I guess what I'm saying is:

a. Great article, good insights, thanks for that.
b. You have a typo (peers vs. pears)
c. I am on a forum, telling you what you need in order to make your work (that article) be taken seriously, thus enforcing the original point you were making.

The place it happened made it extra funny
Those damn pears, they never take me seriously :x

I totally agree with the article.

I mainly felt in to chasing the best plug and tutorials videos instead of making music for a lot of time.

Many good points raised. Hopefully will prove to be an antidote to much of what can trap & paralyze music makers.

Well said.

1. Stay as far away as you can from advice, how to books, and lists of tips... Except for this list of course.

2. Shut the fuck up and make music.

Ooooooh, I'm a nasty bitch! 8)

2 thoughts for now:

a) great and logical info
b) are you aware that some of us LOVE to chit chat about gear and such? Also, some of us are not "producers" but hobbyists. We love this stuff and want to play along as well. Sorry we clutter so much space for "serious" musicians

The only thing that I didn't get was he was saying that you don't have to be this dark corner (did I quote that right?) guy to make music. Well, you don't have to be aways from the web to make music either. I have 3 things I like to do. Talk on chat, make noises on my computer music, a/b gear endlessly  Sorry about that.

The time people are spending in these forums is time they probably should be making great music.
