Drumrack/notes and operator

Post by Robocrosse » Mon Aug 11, 2014 1:57 am

Hi guys,

I'm trying to insert multiple operator(synth) in 1 drumrack. The problem is that i can only play 1 note for each operator.

Is it possible to have multiple operator on 1 track (not layered), or I have to render them and then put them in each cell of the drumrack?

Thanks in advance!

Robo

you can have them sdelect all notes for midi input....and you could play both, at once in one drum rack

I think I explain myself incorrectly. I'm trying to have multiple operator in multiple cell of a drumrack(each cell of the drumrack contain 1 operator). But i want to be able to play different notes with each operator (like a synth, or a piano), is that possible? If not, what can i do differently to achieve that?

I'm doing this, because i want to play LIVE with my set, and i dont want to have 154 tracks (each track would contain 1 operator) in my project, so I insert all my operators in 1 drumrack, but when i do this, i can't play notes within each of the cells of the drumrack!

Drum Racks don't really work like that. you need the Instrument Rack instead...

put all your Operators inside an Instrument Rack, then open its 'chain' edit page and put each Operator on its own chain (use arrow keys to do this quickly).
then create a midi clip in session view for each Operator, and adjust the clip's 'chain select envelope' for each clip.
now when you fire the clip, it will switch to that Operator 'preset'

How exactly do you want to determine what notes play which Operator?! Do you have several keyboards, do you want to switch the keyrange of each operator on the fly?

I think what you should look into is InstrumentRacks where you can set up a key range for each chain and also can choose with the chain selector which chains are active at the time. Another idea would be to use such an Instrument rack, but then also add a MidiEffectRack in front of it, where you again can determine different key ranges per chain and have a ChainSelector set to choose active chains. Put in each chain some midi effects like Scale or even just Pitch and assign the ChainSelector to a macro.

You see, a lot is possible, but you have to really think about what exactly it is you want to achieve.

yes drumrack you cant do that with drumrack, in my head i was thinking....use zones like with sampler....but its operator not sampler...glad you solved it with instrument rack, i need to remember that one.

cheers!

I still have a problem with this. I'm assigning the "envelopes" in each cell to the correct operator, but it does nothing. The operator I choose in the chain of my instrument rack is always the one playing! Any hints about this?

Keep in mind that I want to assign a different synth operator to each clip of my midi track.

yes Garyboozy, i understand totally what i'm supposed to do, but I don't know how did you assign the clip to each of the operator in my instrument rack. I see in your project that when i press a clip, it change the instrument in the chain selector, that the only thing i still don't know how to do.

Ok, i found it... We have to move the red line in the envelopes panel to the right chanel of the chain selector!!!

Thanks a lot!!
