Pulsing lights ?

Post by KyallFena » Tue Aug 12, 2014 1:28 pm

Hi,

Upon connecting my push I was greeted with an abundant of lights pulsing right before my eyes.

Hours have gone by along with lots of research into why these lights want to give me an epileptic fit. The only answers I can find it regarding the mapping of the push and possibly outdate firmware.

Can anyone expand on these issues because to my knowledge I have nothing mapped and have the latest version of Ableton meaning I have the updated push firmware.

HELP. 8O

Thank You

Pulsing slowly (fading in and out) or flickering?

If it's flickering rather fast and you are only connected via USB then it's probably related to the way the Push dims the LEDs for use with USB by PWM which will cause the leds to flicker. Not normally too noticeable until you move your head side-to-side and see them flickering. Try conenct the power pack and they should get bright.

If it's not a very fast flicker and not related to usage feedback events then doesn't sound normal.

Thank you for your reply.
It is a fast flickering and extremely noticeable.

The flickering happens when the push is plugged into a USB hub. This hub also has my sound card, keyboard and APC40 plugged into.
When plugged directly into the computer it is fine.

So are you saying it is more to do with lack of power supply to the push ?

Not saying, but strongly suggesting that is the case especially now you mention it's on a Hub and works fine connected directly to your PC.

If your hub is unpowered, don't connect Push to it. You need some juice to run all them pretty LEDs. Push also comes with a wall wart so use that if you have to connect to the hub OR get a powered hub.

Another thing to check is the "Pad Threshold." (From the User button) If set too low the lights will flicker steadily..
Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch,) Catalina
3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, 64 GB
Apollo/x6, PUSH 2
