Finally, I've purchased PXT Live. I've only had it for a few hours now, switching between reading the manual and testing out commands/functions, and just diving in getting lost in the myriad of new modes and workflows.
It is a LOT to learn, especially muscle memory with button combinations - as many perform functions that won't be obvious going by the text on the buttons, as is expected of course.
I LOVE the multi-channel clip loop control mode, been playing around with just this for the last hour, and recording takes into the very useful SESSION+NEW combo which creates a new audio track set up to record from the one you're jamming on. Awesome. Or just straight arrangement recording - from Push itself. Finally.
It's but the tip of the iceberg, and so far a great mine for happy accidents. Well worth more than the £12 I paid.
If you like your Push, but want to get more out of it, buy PXT Live.

Re: PXT
The Session + New combo is a MAJOR enhancement for me and kind of functions as a direct/re-sampling method for push. I don't use clip loop mono or poly as much as I thought I might and still only scratch the surface of drum mode.tedlogan wrote:Finally, I've purchased PXT Live. I'm at a junction now with the two scripts and the devices I have (nocturn, launchpad push) as I can either go with nocturn+launcpade/LPC2 controling 8*8 grid and note mode, while push controls it's own 8*8. Or have
push controlling all session mode giving valuable overview with the LCD and use launchpad/LPC2 for drum and note modes. I love having options as it allows me to build sets around my track rather than vica versa
Must admit I'm perplexed at abletons/akai decision to break the functionality of their previous grid controllers when push is added to the project. Whether it was intentional or not I feel staying silent on the matter (ie not offering an answer as to why this method should be employed over dual control options) or offering workarounds that limit functionality of our previous investments is dissapointing. The auto arm feature of the push script should be optional Ableton!!
Also Livid Base is shipping with a controller editor, this is great as hopefully it will get more folks pestering the Ableton to release some such thing for push.
