That sucks man, I would be sooo bummed if I couldn't grill. On my last day working for corporate america, my co-workers chipped in and got me a charcoal grill. Turned out to be one of the best gifts ever, I still use it almost weekly 10 years later. Pretty much the only way I know how to cook :)

Tarekith's Guide To Grilling Steak

Just learned a simple way to cook steaks that works insanely well, though it works best with thinner cuts. A couple hours before you're going to grill, take the steak out of fridge, and sprinkle a good bit of salt on both sides. Let it sit unwrapped but covered for 1-2 hours to get to completely room temperature throughout. VERY IMPORTANT.

Get a good sized pile of coals burning well and hot, you want a really even and hot bed of coals. Don't bother with the actual metal grill, when the coals are ready put the steaks directly onto the coals. I find 90 seconds a side works best unless you want your steak very rare, use a stop watch and don't guess.

Immediately after the second side's 90 seconds are done, take them off the coals and wrap in three or four layers of tin foil and leave for 8-10 minutes. They continue to cook during that time, and stay super juicy. Hands down the simplest way to not ruin a steak.

+1

The wrapped in tin foil thing I did for a long time, but then switched to putting the steaks on the grillage (NOT a plate!) in the preheated oven at about 176 °F / 80 °C for about 15-20 minutes & turn them at half time. That way the juice stays completly inside the steaks - putting them inside tin foil, they always lost quite some…

(usually not an option when outside and <err> grilling though…)

Had this bookmarked: How to Cook Steak on Coals - YouTube :)

That's exactly like the method I described. I can't see cooking it only 30 seconds a side like he says though, too rare for me.

No, but you apparently don't understand well that the social situations differ.

Hint: I was not preparing an essay on the etymology of the word BBQ and bothering other experienced linguists for their time to look up things for me that I could well look up for myself.
I was having a chat in the Lounge with people talking about BBQ and wondering what the words origin was.

As such giving a wiki link to the general explanation of BBQ, implying that I don't know about wikipedia or am lazy, is just plain arrogant and rude.

But what to expect of someone who posts nothing but a pic of Dr. Asperger in the middle of an exchange I have with not him. Wink, wink, nudge nudge... Right?!

You people here have really screwed up ethics of how to treat other people you chose to hang out with in a Lounge. :x

oh yeh, urban dic says:

all up in my grill
whoever the person is below me is wrong.
all up in my grill doesn't necessarily mean in someone's business.

it means someones in your face.
grill = face.

therefore, it can also be used describing someone who is excessively annoying and bothering you.
That ho was all up in my grill. Tell him to get his nasty, annoying self outta my face.

Probably because in 90% of the time no one has a clue what the fuck you are even talking about...which is probably for the better...

Xenophobia and stupidity always go hand in hand...
