sound card problem

Post by The Inspector » Tue May 20, 2003 12:36 am

I have a problem with Live playing up with my sound card. It has been running fine until recently when I loaded Live up and it said something about the sound card driver being currupt and I had to set the audio in the preferences again. When I did this live would have a crackly sound, really bad. All my other software works fine and sounds fine. I have checked all the drivers and direct X n all is fine. I have re-updated live.... I think it might just be a hardware or OS problem. Anyone else had this or close?

My system:
P3 933 - Win 98se - 128M RAM. Sound blaster Platnum. Live 2.

Cheers
Bill

sound card problem

hi

i sometimes get a similar problem with my Audigy Platinum (mmm..a link there?) if i have put my PC into 'hibernate'(NOT standby) instead of turning it off , the audio can get quite distorted and i have to restart.

it happened yesterday and instead of re-starting, i opened taskmanager and closed EAX down, and that seemed to work. so i don't know whether it's the drivers or EAX (and i am assuming you get EAX loading itself everytime - it's been a while since i used my SBlive i cant remember)

the only other thing you could try is uninstalling Live, then rebooting, then installing it all again. which works with some other programs (Vegas for one) even if it is a pain and might not even work.
