The oddball thing I'm seeing in 5 that I never saw in 4 is a horizontal one pixel wide, screen width flickering line at random Y positions on the screen. It's easiest to see when there is a dark rectangle (Operator middle screen, Live panel in Lessons window). It doesn't appear to affect operation and only happens occasionally (don't know how to duplicate it.) Has anyone else seen this? It's really strange.
I unlocked 5 + Operator yesterday. (Have used Live since 1.5) I cringed a little at the total cost but for the first time I really salivated at the new features, and I don't regret spending the extra $ on Operator...worked through the tutorial and I'm impressed.
Very odd like graphics glitch in 5
I will try to do that
Thanks for your quick response, Alex. So far I really regard this as a low priority problem.
Reading back my description, it would probably be clearer to describe the artifact this way: a one pixel *high*, screen width, flickering line that occurs at different Y positions on the screen. It does not appear to persist over an entire session of working with Live. (The version is 5.0.1 of course)
I know that this sounds like a hardware problem, but I have not seen it in (e.g) Reason, Sound Forge, the DVD maker program, etc.
I will see what happens when I do a screen grab while it occurs and send it to you.
Best regards,

Don't use GalacticX with Live 5
I've seen it again but it is difficult to duplicate. This time I did an alt-prt screen while the black "about" box was showing but the screen grab did not show the artifacts. I think I have a hardware problem, possibly with my Radeon graphics card. Otherwise Live 5 is very stable on my P4 / Win2k system and I don't think it's crashed yet.
I tried a VST plug in called GalacticX, which when inserted started to feed back and froze my system, requiring a reset to restart the system. This corrupted the set I was working on and I had to reauthorize Live and Operator. Since that was my ony crash it's clear it was due to GalactiX.
