The funniest thing is, searching for U2 & Apple, you only see tales of hatred and woe. Results like "how to delete the U2 Album - BBC.co.uk" and "I'd rather have accidentally shit in my own mouth and lit it on fire - Ableton.com"

A real marketing success story for everyone involved. A real way to say "we know what's hip and happenin'"
In fact - I've seen some articles heralding it as the death throes of downloadable (versus streaming) music. The last flecks of foamy spittle from the maw of the corpse.

I saw this too and was going to start a discussion about it, possibly deserves its own thread. I didn’t read it as people are done downloading music but as people are done paying for music directly. They want wholesale rent bundles.

I personally would like to sell my music someday, not to make money, but because I think people tend to listen to stuff they actually paid for. But I realize that is probably delusional because even I buy music all the time I quickly forget about.

I think we’re going down the end slope of music success bell shaped curve at this point. The low end on the left starting with needing labels for success to the middle top peak of being able to do it all yourself and now heading down the right to where labels are being replaced by entertainment marketing firms needed for success do to oversaturation of the home producer.

My roommate hits up beatport for his DJ sets and he says at this point artists aren’t even bothering with mastering anymore. It’s all shitty low level mixes but yet it’s all up there for mass consumption.

Something needs to straighten this shit out.

That fucking appleWatch is utterly fantastic. Fuck me.

The other 'smart watches' on the market?

omfg

Here's *yet another* example of how smart watches have been available for awhile and.......zzzz.. They've barely rated a mention on Gizmodo of all places - the biggest anti-Apple outlet of them all.

Why is this? Why have we not seen any commercials or ads or press or excitement over these 'amazing' devices? Because they have all absolutely sucked balls, that's why.

The user experience for both the Samsung and LG models is so ham fisted, so completely bereft of anything resembling greatness, it's no wonder that everyone - including the Samsung and LG - pretends they don't exist.

Oh, and there's also the fact that BOTH OF THOSE NEED ANDROID PHONES FOR FULL FUNCTIONALITY.    There's been a lot of bitching about that for the appleWatch, but when it comes to Android it's like' oh, yeah, OF COURSE you'd need the phone too.'

Apple has, yet fucking again, taken an idea and actually included INNOVATION on every single level. People that may have stopped wearing watch because of smart phones (apparently those people exist - at least, that's what every douchebag blogger keeps telling me but I'll be fucked if there's a single dude I know who DOESN'T wear a fucking watch still...duh), will start wearing them again.

Samsung and LG will, in no time flat, completely change their UX to mirror Apples in every meaningful way possible.

Just wait.

In the meantime, Apple is going to sell a bazillion of these fuckers.

Bravo, lads. BRAVO.

You guys are insane. You do realize that the price of bandwidth is SKYROCKETING on mobile devices, don't you? As well as basic home broadband services. This isn't likely to go away or get better. Downloadable content is still going to be strong for years yet.

Fucking YEARS.

Streaming.

It reminds me of how everyone was supposed to be in the cloud by now and that hardrives would be a thing of the past.

As long as I can get a band like that for it in black, then I'm game.

Somewhere out there there’s a hipster with a truck and backseat crammed to the roof with CDs to emulate having all their music in a portable device. :P :x

How the fuck do you read those things?

Also, if you talk to yourself all the time, isn't it gonna be doing a bunch of stuff you don't want?

Read em and weep

http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/permali ... 08/q1sales
Download Sales Are Already Down 13.3 Percent In the first quarter of 2014 ....
So, what do on-demand streaming numbers look like? .... There were 34.28 billion on-demand song and video streams in the first quarter, up from 25.44 billion streams in the first quarter of 2013. This is a 34.7 percent rise.
Not convinced yet?

MOTHERFUCKERS!!!! :x

So I am at the grocery store and get not 1, but 2 texts from AT&T saying my card got declined and I should check my email or click a link to resolve the issue. I cut my grocery shopping trip short and rush home. :x

I check email, nothing. I tap on both links and they bring me to server error pages. :x

Next I call my bank with a prepared speech on how I am an Apple nutjob attempting to preorder a new iPhone which they blocked and ironically their home page is advertising Apple Pay which is the exact technology that would stop this horseshit, but as soon as the person answered I detected a hint of India and I knew my wit would be lost and anything off a basic English script would just be a loop around of clarifications wasting both our time. :x

Keeping to basic English I explained the situation and she said it was blocked at first but then I approved online, AT&T ran it again, and it was approved. :?

Next stop AT&T page to check order status and get a support phone number. Order status page says processing with no signs of issue. :?

Next at bat I called AT&T and unshockingly "because of iPhone 6 demand we're experiencing larger call volume than usual" which I got to after 10 minutes of pushing numbers to route me to the right department. After 20 minutes of being on hold I hung the fuck up. :x

At this point I'm just going to assume AT&T's notifications system got clogged up and the declined charge texts were delayed by hours. The card resolution links didn't work because its all good now. My bank said the charges were later approved and there's no issue notice on my AT&T order status page. I'm not going to get a "never mind, it's all good bro" text because that kind of helpful followup isn't programmed into the notification bots. :|

Sometime tomorrow I'll probably get the long delayed "Your card is fucked!" email from AT&T and I'll have to wonder what's going on again. Only Apple and Russian hackers can cause this kind of chaos! :x

I'm going to go drink now. :)

Not knowing if I'm moving to Luxembourg or not yet in the next couple of months (and thus having no point to signing a 2 year contract with ATT again), this is the first time I haven't been able to pre-order and flip my phone for profit :(

My original post yesterday didn't make it live for some reason???

Anyway, the one thing that people are completely missing is that Apple just announced that they plan to become paypal rolled into a fingerprint activated device you own tied into iTunes with a billion CC's on file already. Apple is now entering the finance world in a big way, and to kick it off they throw U2 at you. Everyone is wondering why they did that? but not getting the bigger picture here. Apple is poised to make billions off of a system already in place.

The watch and the new phone are pretty cool, but from a business perspective Apple just lobbed in a huge massive bomb, and nobody noticed, yet. :x
