Re: Unique bands nobody has emulated
I can think of a half dozen unique, original sounding, innovative bands that no-one has ever come cl... Oh wait, Richard Devine... Okay, nope, can't think of any.
Re: Unique bands nobody has emulated
no, no fan. remember story when friend of me wanted to buy their album "not available". he couldnt find.slatepipe wrote:me neither. I've had quite a few attempts at liking them over the years but have never managed it. I went to see them a year or two ago and finally gave up on them and walked out. they're shit. definitely original thougheddiex wrote:not a fan, but THE RESIDENTS are pretty original.

+1 beefheart & the books!
i've never heard anything else like doctor nerve. funk/punk/prog-jazz
naked city when they came out, although mr. bungle and all of their predecessors did similar stuff a decade later.
praxis.

You're talking like people remember the Bee Gees before they went disco.

Lots of acts emulated the "popular" Fleetwood Mac!beats me wrote:Popular Fleetwood Mac.doghouse wrote:Fleetwood Mac? You guys are kidding, right?

Starting with those who recorded hits with BuckinghamNicksMac members helping out: Walter Egan, John Stewart, Bob Welch (of course, he had been in Mac himself) and then a zillion other mellow ElAy acts of the late 70s.
BTW the blues version of the Mac had multiple #1 hits in the UK, so they were pretty popular
