Really dig the new screen size (4.7) and Touch ID.

Re: iPad
My iPhone 6 actually arrived at my work Friday and I had the day off. In the final shipping fuck up despite my name being attached to the phone number they shipped it to my mom's name because she's the primary name on the shared account. Luckily I work in a small office and they figured it out. I'm sure if I worked for a larger company the receiving department just would have gone "Doesn't work here, ship it back".

Love reading all the reviews from the iPhone Plus purchasers trying to convince themselves its not an unwieldy brick.

Re: iPad
What do those horrible stripes look like in person, I mean that weird pin-striping on the back. It looks super slick on Apple's site but in everyone else's photos it looks like the cheapest most disgusting plastic inlay, like a mistake in the manufacturing. As designs go it made me throw up in my mouth a bit when I first saw the leaks and say "there's no way the Kings of Design will release that abomination". But on release, there it was, plastic beading and a bulging camera. I was amazed.
The fan mock-ups were way better. Eg this sort of thing , or this
But this abomination is what was released bleurgh
Is it better in person? Does it just photograph like a cheap chinese toy, but miraculously is good in real life?

Re: iPad
Meh. I’m covering it with a case anyway. It’s super thin like an iPod Touch and the fact that the camera lens isn’t flush with the back concerns me. The problem is finding a case that the manufacturer doesn’t slap their obnoxious logo on it or cut a hole in it so you can display the Apple logo to the world.

Re: iPad
A couple coworkers were checking out my iPhone 6. The one who had it in hand isn’t a fanboy of any type of phone/OS. He placed it down on my desk and my coworker who is more of an Apple fanboy went “Dude!” which translates to “You don’t put a bareback iPhone down on anything less than a velvet pillow!”
Re: iPad
Saw one yesterday, the stripes weren't nearly as bad as I thought they would be. Looked ugly in the pics, but it's a little more seem less in person.

^ agreed. it's not great at all, but not that bad. i probably wouldn't have noticed it if Angstrom hadn't of mentioned it.Tarekith wrote:Saw one yesterday, the stripes weren't nearly as bad as I thought they would be. Looked ugly in the pics, but it's a little more seem less in person.
not a fan of the raised lens. unintentional abuse waiting to happen.
i just had my boss's phone in my hand about 2 hours ago... she was trying to show me something and accidentally deleted an email... the new delete feature got her... i told her to shake it to undo... no dice.
i thought maybe it was a email client thing, so i tried it in a text message... no dice there either.
i've tried to google it but keep coming up with old articles.
Re: iPad
The new swipe to delete is throwing me off a bit too. Works fine on iPhone (as does shake to undo), but the iPad only lets me archive, not delete that way. Same settings on both, weird

Apple's iPhone 6 camera design shame: Apple shaves the lump off on all their side images

reported a few places, such as - http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/is ... lge-593589
They should have gone THICKER because everyone seems to put their iphone in a case anyway which simply re-adds the few mm they shaved off to get "thinner" and produce this terrible outcome.
Why not design for the real world, create a chassis as thick as a 5 without a camera bulge, and uses the newly found space to design resilience.
In other news, I searched for some response to the horrible stripes, and all i could find were older pre-launch articles saying "Don't be silly, there's no way Apple / Jony will release this design, it's just a manufacturing model!"
