SCRUB AGAIN

Ok,
after several live set, and trying my best to get along with it, i still can't take the new offset start clip, i tried using midi to switch global quantization and move the point with 2 different controller, but it just doesn't do it, it does not react the way it use to be, it is very unprecise!!!!
Still the preset of the impulse is a fucking pain in the ass in live situation, it makes me close that browser every minutes and it just make the computer freeze for 2 or 3 seconds each time!!!
So that's it i'm going back to version 4
i'll use 5 for production, even though i get some white insert in some of the long bounce i do (over 15 minutes)...
Anyone ableton???!!!!??!!

you KNOW I'm onboard. Its really annoying to have this app. called "Live" being slowly turned into a DAW with features that are NOT helpful on stage, in fact they are hurtful on stage. Up til version 3 EVERYTHING was tailor-made for live performances, but the moving of the presets, removal or select on launch, and of course the DRASTIC overhaul of scrubbing are NOT helpful on stage. Some like the new scrub better, I have tried, and really don't like it compared to the old one. I wish Ableton really focused more on the live performance side of things like they did at the beginning, and make sure EVERY new feature or change is quick and useful in live performances. If they did this, I really think there is no way the presets would be like they are if 5. It also seems they are a bit out of touch with long-time users like us, for whom the scrubbing was a KEY feature, in may case used almost every song in performances. Drastically changing it was NOT helpful to my workflow, and obviously not to many others as well. Options would be nice.

I'm not opposed to Ableton becoming more of a full-fledged DAW, and lots of the new features are great, but I still think that every change should have to undergo scrutiny as to its usefullness/quickness on-stage in a hot, dark club with the pressure on. Adding more features in general is great, changing existing ones for the worse (like presets and scrubbing in 5) is bad. Guess I'm stuck with 3 for now.

in principle i agree with you, but i would say rather:

make sure that the feature either doesnt interfere with this scenario, or leave options in place that take it into consideration.

imo they should be setting up and just playing long sets of various kinds and configurations and seeing whether anything feels counterintuitive or annoying.

then base design decisions on that. would seem like a great way to do things ..

While I don't mind the scrubbing, I have to agree that I don't like how "Live" is becoming a DAW app, and losing the performance features. The #1 things it had going for it was ease of use on stage and stability, both of which are suffering in Version 5.

The new features are great IMO, but I'd rather have a stable app than one that tries to be a "me too" app.

I don't think anyone whose uses it as a DAW will find it helpful.
I haven't used L live yet, but I can't satand this thing !
You can't work with this thing.
So far out of the tens of people commenting on this, only 2 seem to be happy with it, and they haven't really dug deep

we already did comment on this and other related transport issues of Live at several places. For instance read Gerhard's statement in http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22529

So you can be sure that we listen all the time and that we are working on better solutions in a future version of Live.
