Live5 - loss of midi control & glitch sounds

Post by ethios4 » Sat Aug 20, 2005 6:46 pm

Last weekend when playing a show, I lost all midi control from my UC-33 about 20 minutes into the set. I rescanned midi devices and Live did not recognize the UC-33 at all. I had to have the other dj mix in so I could reboot. Not fun.
Last night when playing a show, Live suddenly spit out the most horrible glitch sound, over a 40,000 watt system. I was adjusting a warp marker on a track that was cueing when the glitch happened. I used a UC-33 knob to move the cutoff on the EQ4 and the glitch went away.
In general, Live5 has been much more unstable than Live4, and prone to quirky glitches.
To say that I shouldn't use a first release live5, or that I should switch back to Live4 or even Live3, is not a good way of thinking, to me. Sure, most companies first release version is unstable and buggy, but part of the reason I started buying Live was that I felt/feel that Ableton is a better company than that. The money I paid for Live5 definitely wasn't buggy, right?
I feel bitchy about it because things are really starting to happen on my ened of things. We've got a residency at the premier club in town, and trying to build up an almost non-existent scene for electronic dance music. Everything here is dominated by meat-market top40 bullshit, and we're working our asses off to bring things up. So to have buggy software in the midst of that is extremely frustrating!
I eagerly await the bug-fix version of Live5.
C'mon Abes!! You can do it!!! Don't turn into just another software company!!!!
