Blofeld Filter 1 Cutoff CC
Blofeld Filter 1 Cutoff CC
Anyone know what this number is? In the Blofeld manual it states that cc 69 is the filter 1 cutoff but in Live 9, it shows it as 'pedal hold'. Driving me nuts I can't find any other information online anywhere.
Re: Blofeld Filter 1 Cutoff CC
CC 69 in the MIDI spec is specified as Hold 2. For a full list of the standard CCs, see this
Waldorf (like many mfrs including Access and even Moog) ignores the standard CC assignments, mainly because they have far more parameters than the standard allows for. Use CC 69 if that's what Waldorf has in their spec.
NRPNs are the "correct" way for mfrs to support extra parameters and it's a good way to do it, too. There's only 128 CCs, with NRPNs you can access over 64,000 parameters with 14 bit resolution (16,000+ steps!!!). NRPNs have greater latency than CCs since you have to send multiple bytes in the MIDI stream, but Korg used for them for quite a while as did DSI because they allow higher precision and don't conflict with the CCs. Sadly, many DAWs and controllers don't handle NRPNs well (or at all)...that list includes Live, sadly.
So who does use the standard CC assignments? All GM compliant instruments plus most Ensoniqs, Korgs, Rolands and Yamahas.
