Goodbye, Dr. Moog. You changed the world.
Goodbye, Dr. Moog. You changed the world.
I'm sorry to report that Dr. Robert A. Moog has died, after a struggle against a brain tumor.
Moog's creations helped to shape the musical world in which we live today. Certainly I'd not be the same person had I not learned to program Moog Modulars back in the early 1970s.
I thank the health care workers who strove to help him, and wish strength to his family.
The world has lost a Great One. :-(
*salute*
P.S.: I have this information at third hand. Harmony Central is the source of the post, and I read about it on KVR. But in recent weeks his condition has declined dramatically, and the outcome seems to have been inevitable.

Sad new's indeed.
A huge innovator we are all indebted too in so many ways.
I hope his departure from this mortal coil was a peaceful one.
A great man indeed.
Alot of people are going to be very upset by this.
Rest in Piece .
Atleast you are finally at one with the infinite.
God bless.

My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....
There IS a single post on the forum at www.moogmusic.com that says he's dead as well. However, I can find no other information anywhere on the web from any kind of reputable source that confirms it.
He WAS diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor this spring. But I'm quite skeptical at this point that the reports of his death are anything but a hoax, as I would expect to see a little more about it on the major news sites (or, as far as Google News searches are concerned, on any news site at all).

To a man whos wonderfull contributions, and towering stature, will never be forgotten...
RIP Mr Moog "The Friend of all"
"We find that if a person lives a very selfish life and is never concerned about the welfare of others, he will have few friends, and people will not take much notice of him. At the time of his death, there will not be many people who will regret his passing. Some deceptive and negative persons may be very powerful and wealthy, and therefore some people- for economic reasons and so forth- might portray themselves as friends, but they will speak against such person behind their back. When these negative person die, these very same "friends" may rejoice at their death.
"On the other hand, many people mourn and regret the death of a person who is
very kind and always altruistic and who works for the benefit of others. We
find that altruism, as well as the person who possesses it, is regarded as the friend of all, and it becomes the object of veneration and respect by others."-- His Holiness the Dalai Lama
