It's bizarre to me that you can't connect the dots with what you've just written and realize that racism indeed existed in this context precisely because early cultures would often not have thought of "the other" as being human at all, but rather as equal to animals (i.e. Romans and Jews).

Also, the Jewish and Christian religions were never the only games in town, as much as you'd like to blame "the Bible" for all human error.

English as a Second Language

It's a term mostly used here in the States for students, usually from Mexico, who need special attention in school because English is a second language for them.

I guess when talking about slavery in modern times in the western hemisphere they pretty much are ;-)

But my above quote was in response to something you were saying that was not about "slavery in modern times in the western hemisphere."

I thought you were a scientist or something…? You're not seriously having trouble keeping up with the contexts and details of your own words, are you? Bizarre. :?

Once again you jump to a conclusion which paints you as a victim. It's so fucking lame and makes you extremely boring and predictable.

He meant it sincerely. It was not an ad hominem. He was actually wondering if it was an issue of language (e.g. regarding the use of the word "race"). If I recall correctly there is a precedent for this with you.

But the self-victimization you do is just pathetic. Grow some balls. Not everything is about you. The boogeyman is not around every corner. And not everything is a conspiracy.

Jesus.

Lemme sum this up, Tom admits he was wrong, then attacks me for thinking he was wrong because ESL.... wow?

Also, in no way did the judaic religions somehow prevent racism pre enlightenment? That's pretty funny to me considering that at least christianity in all it's forms is far less violent and more tolerant than it was pre enlightenment.

Tom it seems that you think that the enlightenment and evolutionary theory somehow are responsible for racism? which is quite a bizarre twist, but given nazi ideology and the differences in schooling between your native country and the rest of the world it's not surprising there's a desire to explain that regime by modern concepts etc. instead of putting it in context with a larger racial, xenophobic problem that still exists to this day.
IE it was a mistake that doesn't reflect larger social problems, a fluke of modern times. I'm just guessing here?

You don't need evolutionary theory to think that breading and region might play into intelligence and worth as a human, any farmer from the dawn of farming is going to be aware that these things can affect livestock, and racial theory based on wrong assumptions about color and region of origin have been around long before genes were even discovered. When the nazis considered slavs as subhuman based on breeding, that is the very definition of racism, color is simply a component of racism. In modern times it's considered the only one left, but let's be honest here, a lot of people still look down upon slavs (or insert ethnicity) as mentally deficient etc. Slavery on the other hand can't even be singled out, it's history is as old as mankind.

I'm not going ad hominum when I say that you're basic argument is wrong, and that I thought you might be misinterpreting what I'm saying or that your talking points might seem more inflexible because of ESL. Not that people don't do that. To throw you a compromise though, racists used and abused evolutionary theory to bolster their shit beliefs. There's no debate to be had about that.

this liberal is obviously a threat , i'm scared to death just listening to him cry, his crying is making me want to stand my ground and defend myself against him with excessive force.
oh gosh, I'm so afraid for these brave cops does anybody have an update on if these wonderful officers are ok, did they make it out of this and home to their families?
