In the words of one of my Idols, YOU HAVE BEEN DECLARED THE TERRORIST
I just read the article and also read the Sherrif's report:

http://www.utahcountyonline.org/News/De ... em=SHERIFF

If you have the mind to look at it from both sides you can come to the simple conclusion that the police knew there was going to be heaps of drug use (which there was/always is) and they decied to make it a good excercise of police power and scare people off from putting on more parties.

I also watched the footage:

They beat a few people up in the process, probably violent people. They didn't look like they wanted to beat up the dj's, probably cus they weren't asking for it.

It would totally suck to have your party shut down like that and I hope the promoters sue the absolute crap out of the people that made it happen.

Morally, this shit is very wrong. On a legal level, when there is a high amount of banned substance use, they can shut down parties whenever they like and they'll get away with it as long as they have the government backing them.

Maybe it's time the Dance community accepted the fact that most recreational drugs are banned for a reason and, I dunno, maybe grew up a little and starting policing itself?

easy there. I thought this thread was against violence and anger :? Please enlighten me on the "million people killed in Indonesia"--link to a legit story??? I think you might want to consider the UK's history before getting on your high horse. We've only been around about 400 years as a country, yours has been around much longer and conquered many lands in a much more brutal way, with no political agenda, just out to conquer the natives and pillage the land for resources. Saying "its about time that something like this happened" is a horrible statement--why don't you call the concert promoters and people who were beaten and robbed of their rights and tell them that--really considerate. Sounds like the same type of thing has happened in the UK, where it could've been you. Still think "its about time"? C'mon, ease off on the violent threats, promotion of actions like those of the Utah police, and slagging other countries as if yours was faultless.
standard claptrap argument number one :
blame the country you have taken over from

so are you saying it is british imperialism that inspired america to take over the act ?
what is the excuse here .. is it that britain done something bad so its ok for america too now....
britain used to rule the world
now its america
you can trace back each civilsation as it ruled the world
perhaps its the romans fault that the british were brutal and ruthless?
or perhaps it was alexander the great ?
i mean what is the logic in this argument....?
please explain i would love to know
cos i must have heard it about a million times now
and i still dont get it ...

are you also saying its ok to kill when you have a 'political agenda'
and its not ok just to kill for money...
what is your countries politcal agenda if its not to gain wealth ultimately?
and what have you done other than pillage and steal resources
would you care to comment on nicaragua
the common issues seem to be
if a country wants to use its own resources for itself
you invade...
a common story...

did i ever say that my country was faultless ?
if you would point that out i would appreciate that..
you are a chump
go and read some more and find out what you are doing
and then get back to me...
if to qualify for criticism you had to come from a country with a clean slate with absolutely no bad actions at all then it would be impossible for anyone to complain about anything you stupid ass chump...
christ stupidty just makes me annoyed im sorry
i know i should have more compassion
but this is partly whats holding our evolution up
chumps like you!

i said 'maybe its about time'
it was a provocative statement
aimed at the wankstain who was rude to me...
but then - when you consider the attempted genocide your country regularly partakes in - it comes into perspective...
this utterly nasty police state act is dispicable by any means
but really - its not even worth mentioning when put up against indonesia,israel/palestine,nicaragua and east timor etcetcetc...
so shut eitt

Especially these days when the Melting Pot is calling the kettle black when it boils over*. Terrorism is a bad thing whoever is responsible for it and whatever form it takes. This happening so blatantly in the US is a very, very worrying thing IMO. Someone said after the first attacks in London this year that "We will not allow violence to change our societies"; whilst he probably meant that he didn't want society to change our violence, I think we should keep the fascists to their words, now that they've decided to pay lip service to democracy ;)

lesson one
there is no democracy
look up the meaning and figure it out...
doesnt exist in our two countries (uk and america)

the total amount of 'terrorism' that happens in the world
is a tiny fleck of nothing on the shoe of 'state terrorism'
a far worse, far more socially acceptable and media supported act...
far more people are killed by state terror and capitalism
take for example the amount of children that die per week in africa
due to lack of drugs that we could give them...
one of your '9/11's every week in children alone...

Why don't they bust on country music concerts? I'll bet there is enough meth at those to keep the bible belt awake for weeks.

You can't argue with apathy any more than you can squeeze blood from a stone. All people care about is their toys and as long as nothing affects them directly who cares about anybody else's problems? Don't argue with ignorant people, they just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

From what I have read, they were policing themselves. Of those arrested were the security personnel who were conducting searches for illegal substances. They were charged with possessing controlled substances with intent to distribute. Now I may not be a smart man, but I know what stupid is.

in their eyes electronic music = drugs = no rights = easy moral victory = public office = money = penile compensation

these are weird times, this shit is for real. most (all?) people who make the laws don't get the culture, they WILL NOT support it if they don't have to, but they CAN and THEY ALWAYS TIE RAVES TO DRUGS, then they can bust the party without impunity, run for mayor/governor/senate/get funding for the police force... what kind of clout was pulled to get the Junior Woodchuck Club out in force like that with their toys?

they were ready to dance, like it or not, no matter what they found. would those cops/soldiers (who can tell the difference?) treat their OWN children like that? no, just evil drug users . I wonder if just ONE cop/soldier had a kid there (with a dad like that...). 8O

ever notice how drug enforcement can go up the summer before an election??? I notice it in San Francisco, hmmm, whassup SLC?

I worry less about f-ed up foreign policy than f-ed up domestic policy.

gotta spend more time on 'Tips & Tricks'... try some CJing...

i'll second that...
a few weeks ago some friends
brought decks/generators/mackies
to the beach for a little get-together.
small, maybe 30 people...
not a 'Rave Party'
so at 6:30AM or so the RCMP(federal police,
cause we were on park/native land)
shows up, and they're like
"What time you guys staying until?
We just got a noise complaint, so turn it down
for a bit, and then you can turn it up again."
and then they left...
frickin' paradise here....
