Chord progression -Maschine Mk2 functionality on Push?-

I just watched the video about the new version of the Maschine MK2, and there seem to be an insteresting feature on chord progressions -here: http://youtu.be/eGAWEXCm2FA?t=5m19s - , I was wondering if there's a way of doing that with Live, I was thinking of the midi effect chord + scale but I’m not sure what kind of chords that would be creating, the other way I can think of is actually writing down the chord progression on the piano roll but that doesn't let you play with the chords...

Any ideas, plugins, M4L, etc?

There are several M4L devices, some are free, others don't cost much.

With push you just have to remember the chord shapes, make progression as you wish and experiment with different shapes:

That's what I try to use. However, I find Push isn't much of a keyboard composition-wise. The biggest issue I have is that you get a limited amount of keys if you want to use all available notes. Many of the greatest tracks in history don't just use notes in key nor are they in one key only, but typically in two. That's especially true of chord progressions. Strategic use of notes not in key creates tension that can be resolved.

One of the greatest bass lines I made have three notes not in key. They're the right not in key notes of course and couldn't be used willy-nilly.

I have J74 Progressive but it doesn't let me play chord progression, rather generate them, any specific M4L device you're thinking of?

Yeah, a chord progression engine for Push. I can see that happening.

I think a 'chord progression mode' rather than a 'chord mode' could be interesting, if you just wanna trigger all the major chords just pressing one pad you have the chord midi effect; instead, a mode where you can chose a chord progression and every pad triggers one of these chords would be pretty cool.

The ultimate is Cthulhu, but you have to input chords yourself; the defaults are Bach Chorales, which are fine if you're a Bach Chorale guy, but..... (There may be some chordsets around).

The new update to Maschine works fine; especially since you can use the Mk2 to key the chords in progressions, and the Push to play melody even in the same track. Just sync the scale types and keys ... Also, within Live and an instance of Maschine, you can instantiate an additional VST inside Maschine (e.g.Sampletank 3, Kontakt, Sylenth1), and use the chordsets/scales with any of their samples..

I'm pretty impressed.. oops gotta go. My Komplete Kontrol S25 just arrived FedEx..

I like the XChordExplorer. Simple and great fun. Makes me approach chord progressions differently than if I had played them myself.
