Hi folks. I'm using KV331's Synthmaster plugin within LIve 9. I can "MIDI learn" my keyboard's controls to the knobs within synthmaster, but I can't MIDI learn anything on my APC40 to anything within synthmaster. Yet the APC40 DOES MIDI map to any native parameters within ableton itself. I recently reinstalled both Live 9.1 and the most recent synthmaster update. I'm stumped. any ideas?
crazy thanks,
Giacomo
APC40 not MIDI mapping to a third party synth?
Re: APC40 not MIDI mapping to a third party synth?
You can only do that if the APC is not being used as a 'control surface'. Otherwise it is generating most of its functionality within Live itself and those aren't translating as completely naked 'midi'. Live basically hijacks it.
Another option is the Confugure button to make the parameters accessible in Live.
Or possibly a specifically made max midi device which you can map controls to knobs, and those knobs send midi cc to the vst device.

Re: APC40 not MIDI mapping to a third party synth?
hey, once again, thanks for the help.
The first suggestion about the configure button seems like it would get tedious to work with, as my soft synth has a lot of parameters I'd like to toy with.
So I'm wondering what kinds of max devices could do this? I'm not real keen on the world of max, so wouldn't even know how to start searching for that at cycling74's site.
