A convenient wedge-stand for Ableton Push

Post by Leave Trace » Mon Jan 12, 2015 11:39 pm

This is how I use an old iPad 1 magnetic smart cover as a little wedge stand for the Push:

This trick also works great for the APC-40.

Nice, been looking for something like this. Sadly I can't find my iPad 1 cover anywhere! (found the iPad 1 though, which it turns out is still going strong and runs touchAble perfectly leaving my other one free for other apps - impressed that it still works (although really you'd hope 4 year old kit still would!))

It looks like the old smart covers are pretty cheap on Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPad-Smart- ... B0060GF3TQ.

Any of the smart covers would likely work for, but the older design specifically is more robust and can handle the pressure better.

I HIGHLY recommend the IKEA BRADA Laptop stand for the Push. It's under $4 USD new. It fits the push perfectly. I purchased a second one for my Nova and I'm going to buy a few more for other gear.

Agreed, this is an great stand for the home studio. I've got one as well, and it makes a cameo in my video, on the left side of the desk. :)

The only problem is that it doesn't travel well, and I gig with my Push a fair amount. The smart cover is a more travel-friendly solution for me.

I agree. I only use mine in the studio. I should also mention that it is plastic but, so far, it's taken a beating without a problem.

Ah ha, that Brada looks great! Currently using my Komplete 9 DVD box and some bluetack but don't think it'll hold for too long ;)

Speaking of stands, I've just got one of these for my laptop and it's great, allows me to make use of a bit of space underneath the laptop for other stuff: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro-Notebook ... B002PU2NCG. Could be good for Push in some setups too, it's pretty solid given the price!

Yeah, those IKEA stands are great. £3.50 here or something stupid. I have two - for APC40 and Push, both with the rear feet propped up at quite an angle resting on the pedestals (old boxes for gear I bought) for the PC monitors, around 45 degrees or so towards me. Very comfy setup. Absolutely sturdy.Like so:
