Spectrasonics
Re: Spectrasonics
Eric Persing is the Steve Jobs of music gear presentations.
My main likes are the match feature that shows presets in the browser similar to the one you are currently on and locking parameters like effects, arpeggiator, and LFO in the sound you are listing to and applying them to every preset you browse through. That’s a game changer and big workflow improver.
Over 10,000 sounds and 3,000 patches? Cool, but some of the things they sampled and methods of playing them are a little unnecessary and I’m sure contributes to the huge library.
As far as sound creation beyond the traditional there seems to be a lot of easily turning noise into something melodic and turning something melodic into noise. Sound design for the lazy. Not a bad thing, but just saying.
A $200 - $250 upgrade price isn’t bad and we have until the end of April to mull it over. Oh, and it’s downloadable this time. Nice. And a big leader to impulse buys.

That's a must-have upgrade at virtually any price, IMO

Re: Spectrasonics
I'm still waiting for the Stylus update, since it's the one which needs a face lift the most.

Re: Spectrasonics
he3..it's been too long. But actually the development of the Omni 2 makes the future of Stylus looks more interesting. If they applied exciting "Omni 2" related features, such as using it as a drum synthesis engine, it's totally worth the waiting. Seems like the next version at least going to feature audio import (not just REX) and the new fx processors.

See, I'm a sucker for beatz. I just can't use RMX anymore......I've used all those beatz so many times now I hear them in my sleep....
No wait, that's from watching the "science channel" ..

Re: Spectrasonics
I can see why they didn't change the Omni 2 UI too much, because it's decent already. But I'm expecting a total overhaul of the RMX interface, it's so dated somehow.
Also, instead of a new loop library, I'm expecting a full, innovative drum machine functionality and multi-layer drum kits.

I use and love Omnisphere but, what is so new with importing my own samples into a tool like Omnisphere?
I love to use M4L Granulator to crunch any kind of sounds and combine it with fx tools. I know that Omnisphere has ist own specific wide sounntrack kind of sound. But the disadvantage of usind Omnisphere is that you can immediately perceive its sound in a lot TV-programs like documentarys and dramas. Is purchasing Omnisphere 2 making my sound so individual?
just my 0,02 USD

1. Some people use DAWs other than Live. Having this kind of functionality in the plugin means you can use it in any DAW.MrMoneypenny wrote:I use and love Omnisphere but, what is so new with importing my own samples into a tool like Omnisphere?

2. The demo video of them dragging in a fully produced jazz track and converting it quickly into synth pads with their granulator. We shall see, but we can hope that isn't going to produce that signature Ominsphere sound. The uniqueness should be limitless.
I own a lot of the overused plugins and I've never once gone "oh that's Massive/Omnisphere/Zebra2!" when listening to music or TV or movies, and haven't met anybody who has either. I think that's the preoccupation of producers who are obsessed with their own sound design.

Hey you got a link to this? KVR had a long thread where there was a joke about Spectrasonics buying them that led to ta rick roll if that's where you heard it.crystalmsc wrote: I'm happy enough for being able to use the Alchemy sample libraries and my other samples within Omnisphere

I'm a long time user and have the access for backup until July 7. Still hoping that they will develop Alchemy under a new company, with a special upgrade price for current user.
Omnisphere is able to deliver both easily, even with the current version.
I love synth which has a signature sound..also a synth that's able to produce a non signature sound.beats me wrote:The uniqueness should be limitless.
