First ep uploaded: feedback very welcome :))

Post by soareyou » Sat Jan 03, 2015 6:50 pm

Hello people!

I just uploaded what i would call my first ep, a 3 track serie with a lot of recordings, somewhere between techno and electronica!

If you wouldnt mind having a listen and/or giving me any feedback, that would be very great!

Thanks a lot )

Hey,

just had a complete listen and really liked it a lot. The field recordings give it an organic feel, and otherwise the tracks are damn well produced and feature a good dramatic buildup (especially EMERGENCE).
If I had to find a wee little point I personally may like to change: The Kick on EMERGENCE could be a bit more clicky after the straight beat sets in at 2:35, so that it cuts better through the mix. That's just a personal preference though, it may be so soft on purpose, and if so, that's also totally ok!

Keep 'em coming, these are really cool!

Hey fluid karma!

thanks for the listen and feedback! I'm glad you like it!

COncerning the kick on emergence, i was trying to reach a balance between dreamy and dynamic, in the end i chose the kick to be more layed down i guess :p

I will consider changing the kick, maybe i can use it in livegigs or whatsoever :D

thanks again!!

Just a personal preference, like I said! The songs are laid out and mixed so well that I already guessed it was your deliberate decision to let the kick sound exactly this way. So: don't change it, it does everything you intended! :)

well done ... great build up ... listened to 1st track twice, just because it was so interesting ... as I am only starting out in ableton, I have alot of respect for such production value now ...

It sounds like you have been making great progress. The sounds are moody, evolving and coherent, and beautifully produced. I don't have critical feedback at this stage; I would want to listen to them for a while.

Just listened to all three tracks, very well produced and I like the style.

Resurgence was my favourite out the bunch - I liked the subtle glitchy sounds you had going on in places, a little Aphex Twin :)

Did you do extensive audio chopping for this affect or use any glitch/stutter plugins?

Thanks a lot!!

The glitchy part was mainly automation of a delay(disharmonics/harmonics), a beat repeat and some eq'ing, nothing too fancy!
The sounds themselves are (almost) all recorded, which gives a certain weird texture sometimes. Hope this helps!!
