Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has had issues using a machine with an AMD APU on it. I am running 9.1.7 on a black Friday cheapie machine. It's Win8.1, AMD A8 6410 Quad Core 2.0GHz, with 8G RAM, 64bit. I know this thing certainly isn't top of the line by any standard, but what is really tripping me out is that my old machine, (Intel Core Duo 2 core 1.8GHz, 4G RAM, Win7, 32bit, 512M GPU), runs ableton like a champ. I can run more midi clips in real time with automation on the old machine (Intel CPU) than I can on the new one (AMD APU). Also, when I sync them up together using ipMIDI, the AMD machine will eventually lose the midi sync, while the Intel machine never has a problem. I've tried both combinations of slave/master, and the AMD machine is always the one either losing the signal, or freezing up and not sending midi clock messages. The Intel machine consistently runs everything I need.
Anyway, any input or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. I want to get a new machine that will run ableton properly, but I don't want to get hoodwinked again.
