best way to route synths/drum machines etc...

Hi i about about to start a new project and come from a punk rock back ground so new to this.
i use ableton but only have a 2 i/o sound card.

I want to be using 2 synths on stage +drum machine & stuff from ableton.

so what is the best way to do this?

as surley getting a sound card with more i/o will only put strain on the macbook with everything running through it?

Is there a house mixer, or is ableton the final mixing point?
