First Track - I'd love to hear what you think :)
Hey guys,
I've been playing around with Live for about two years now already whenever time permitted. Although I experimented with a lot of ideas and produced one little thing or another I recently finished what I would call my first actual track.
I teamed up with my brother who played in most of the instruments and then worked with what we had recorded. Later on I replaced some of the actual recordings with Live's midi instruments. The drums are programmed with various samples, Piano, Bass and Strings are Live's sample based midi instruments. For mixing and Mastering I used Live's devices as well as Izotope's Alloy, Nectar and Ozone.
It would be great if you guys could give me some feedback on my work!

My first impression was that if this is your first finished track, it's impressive. The mix is good, though the little clicky percussive thing is a little too intrusive, at least on my PC speakers; it gets a little more lost on headphones. There's something that sounds like a saxphone that's little out of tune on some notes, and could do with a touch of Melodyne, or sample re-pitching in Live, or even conversion to MIDI, though you'd lose the glided notes. The whole thing has got a nice, relaxing groove going on, though, and was relaxing enough to make me want to play it twice. So you're doing something right!

Thanks very much for your feedback
I really appreciate it!
That melody was played with a Xaphoon. You can actually see it left to the Didge on the wall in my profile picture on Soundcloud.
I haven't looked into pitch correction possibilities too much so far but will definitely give it a go!

Good job!
Pros: Sound quality / Flow / Vocal quality
Cons: Could be a minute shorter / Vocal placement could be better (maybe another catch phrase instead of the same phrase throughout entire track)
I followed you on SoundCloud, keep up the good work!

Thank's very much for the feedback! Track length is a good point! I always struggle a bit with arrangement. That's why I tried to keep it pretty basic in this track.
I was surprised about the vocal quality myself given that we recorded everything without any special preparation through a handheld stereo recorder straight to SD card
My brother brought up the same point though about the vocals being too repetitive, we'll definitely work on that!

really impressive!
the small changings like when the hi hats came in at the beginning of the song makes it feel alive! is it just me or is the lead guitar slightly out of tune?

Thank you!
And compliments to your ears! I just installed the latest beta and used the new tuner device to check the tuning of the guitar. It turns out it was not quite in tune. I bumped up the clip detune by 8 ct which, although not very much, makes a big difference
