I´m very much agree, I´m not going to buy Live without rewire/slave option in OS-X

Using, Cubase SX, Reason and Live (only if it gets the rewire in os-x)

Pay Attention Ableton !!!

Come on Ableton support ANSWER.

Its a simple question

A Your are working on it

B you are not working on it.

C you are working on it but there are a few problems

honestly we can take the truth. Dont act like Steinberg, and Emagic (although Emagic seem to have changed their policy). Take a tip from Digidesign, and even Apple´s Public Relations and let your userbase know about this extremely IMPORTANT feature for OSX users. Or are we just a dumb bunch of hobbyists?

I guarantee if you let the folks know with an announcement or even a sticky on the forum we will stop pestering you.

While Alex is answering fairly mundane questions which is all very nice you have loads of people that want this one simple question answered.

As I always say Silence speaks volumes

Sorry to be rather vocal on this point. But I cannot understand why you sell a product that isnt complete. But worst of all you dont make it known that rewire doesnt work, and thats just not right for buyers that order it expecting it to work when they install.

live rocks. i just switched to mac (thought to be on the professional side) and now - it's not really fun anymore. it's slow, and rewire slave doesn't work. javascript:emoticon('') I'd love to see that improved...

interesting

today posting as gust to say find it interesting for all the complaints here most are not registered users in this forum
seems to be one or two people posting over and over again as registered users who post on a regular basis/both mac and pc seem to not be amoung the hundreds of people posting this subject
agenda..seems like it
interesting idea to ableton
take a poll via e mail to registered actual users of this program to see what we want and you might be suprised to see what the REAL issues are

With all due respect Rubbush!.

I'm not registered. I cant be bothered registering and I applaud Abletons decision not to enforce registration. Its nice to not have to give your email out to anyone thats asks for it.

+++++ Lets say some dude is just s casual passer by whis interested in buying live but he just wants to ask one simple question. He would have to go througha whole registration process just for one question which may or may not be answered. Its callled passing trade.....

you seem to imply that maybe some users are using cracked copies? I hope your not, because its not the vibe I get here at all and thats just the sort of comment that can turn a pretty decent forum in to carnage.

Also, if its just trouble makers why would they go to the bother of posting for the most part pretty normal wishlists. A troll will usually appear and put down the program.

Sorry, but your wrong.

Rewire Support

Post by button » Wed May 07, 2003 8:34 am

Interesting to see that my original post on this topic has generated two pages already. I see that "Guest" is suggesting one or two users constantly post to forums to drive up replies ... so I thought I'd register ... and I still think Rewire support is essential.
I'm sure the Ableton crew have a look at these forums now & again, & if there is significant traffic on a particular subject, I'm sure they take it into account. "OS X Guy" asks for Ableton to announce if they are working on this ... If you had a problem with some code, would you announce the intention to fix it before figuring it out?!
Earlier in this thread, someone makes the point about cross-platform consistency - I reckon this is most important: most pro users will accept a limited feature-set in return for consistent operation. Then we can find the right place for all our audio tools in the toolbox.
Has anyone found a work-around for using Logic 6 and Live together with OS X? What about triggering Live loops from midi in Logic, using some sort of midi-bridge. I've never used any of the midi pipes between audio aps - does anyone have some good ideas? I've got used to using Logic and Live together on my PC, but my PC is not my main music machine!

Logic and Live working in sync on OSX

Post by button » Thu May 15, 2003 9:03 pm

FYI ... If any of the 400 people who looked at this thread are truly desperate, JamieH and myself have both managed to lock the programs together successfully. No input to Logic via Rewire, just running in Sync using midi clock. The steadiest solutions involve hardware :? Check the Tips and Tricks forum.

Yeah, got some Midi stuff worked out to make things work for now........
but nothing is more elegant (and tighter!) than doing things via Rewire!!
So I'll add my name to the list of hopefuls !!!

Rewire slave OSX

Post by button » Thu May 29, 2003 10:24 am

With questions like that, I suppose "A" is the best answer OSX customers could hope for.

My own hope would be that the next release version will be a consolidation, making Live work faster and interface better with other pro applications.

Most of the production professionals I know have the attitude to Live "yeah ... interesting, I took a look but it's not robust enough/I can't use it with Logic/PTools etc." If those issues can be addressed, then Ableton can build their user base.

Thanks for giving us the answer, Michael!
