Hello - I'd love to see a MIDI catch mode.... something that allows midi notes to be triggered when starting playback during a held note..
I make long and terribly boring music with lots of sustained chords - maybe a minute or two per chord - it gets very tedious having to play from miles out to hear the bit I'm trying to edit.
One way around the problem is to freeze the track, but that makes it hard to edit!
At the moment, I tend to rewire into protools to do the midi editing of such parts, but that is cumbersome.
Also VSTs are lost when in rewire mode... Im sure that one would be tricky to fix, but the midi chase... waddya think?

+1 I've also thought about this alot.
The problem is probably that with 2-minute pad of a synth, the program can't possibly know how the synth will REALLY sound like at 1:58 - instead it will just play from the "beginning" of the chord, so what you would be hearing wouldn't be accurate. But at least it would play.

Other programs out there have this feature and it's really a timesaver when working with several midi tracks.

Remarkable that this is still missing after 9 major releases...
