the redsound microsync is not very accurate
anyway the tempo changes arrive too late and Live cannot lookforwards.

imagine if Live could extract the tempo and follow it from an external input routed in the mixer
then Live could deal with the delays introduced by the audio interface and the computing of the beat extracting process. this coul be the real solution to this old problem and Ableton is the only one who could do that in the whole galaxy now.

i've got a microsync and a voyager, and they work great. as for accuracy, 0.01 bpm (the readout only does 0.1, but the hardware goes to 0.01) should be enough for anyone...:)
they can be a bit tricky i guess but it's all about working with them. you need to give em a pretty loud signal for them to detect properly, and i don't mess about with adjusting the bar start if i can help it. i set the global quantise in live to 1/32 and rely on my timing to trigger the loops in the right place and it (mostly) works really well. layering drum loops into something is the hardest, as they show up the most if they lose time.
the dj i work with plays some pretty strange tracks too which can confuse them a bit a times, but hey, you wouldn't want it to be too easy i guess.

when i bought my microsync i rang the company and actually had a chat with the owner. apparently he emailed ableton to see if they were interested in developing a software version of the microsync, but he never heard back (at least when i'd spoken with him). theoretically it's doable to incorporate it with live, but i guess the devil is in the details as i haven't actually seen a viable software alternative yet. have to say though, would be great if they did build it in...
Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...

yes, i suggested exactly this a few weeks back.

i think this would be an extremely useful addition to live and would go a long way toward opening it up to integrating with all kinds of external sources (decks, CDJs etc)

this way "trading off" with vinyl DJs and CDRs wouldnt be as problematic, allows live to be used in all sorts of scenarios without so much hassle.

please post to this thread in the wishlist forum

if you get what we're suggesting here ...
