playback differences between plug in and standalone.

alright, i'm hoping someone can help shed some light on an interesting problem i'm having. i bought garritan personal orchesta (runs with a kontakt sample engine) a few months back. running it as an au plug i get pretty terrible performance. regardless of buffer size settings, i get audio stutters with any amount of polyphony above four or five. and of course it gets worse the more tracks/plugs i have in an .als. but this also happens with nothing but a single midi track with the au plug on it. the clincher is that i can run garritan as a standalone and pipe the sound into live via soundflower, and i get no audio glitches all the way down to about a setting of 100 in the sample playback buffer. so what is live doing so wrong? how is it possible that i get better performance with the same app opened as standalone versus its plug in equivalent?

ha...i do love to hate n.i...that's my biggest dissapointment with GPO...great sample set, but the limited kontakt version is seriously lacking. not to mention it works at about 1/10 the efficiency of nnxt in reason.

when I evaluated computers and librarys for my orchestral sampler, I decided on a standalone PC running GIGASAMPLER.

that after purchasing and enjoying garritan immensely.

oh well.
