If you decouple the EQ from the Sidechain (with a activate / deactivate button) you could use the compressor as a Dynamic EQ / Multiband compressor.
So you could control both independently, e.g. if you don’t want, that the volume of the bass ducks when the kick drum hits but only the frequency of the kick drum.
If the sidechain is triggered by the kick drum, adjust at the EQ the fundamental frequency of the kick drum. Thus, the bass is just ducked at the frequency of the kick and not at the volume of the complete signal.
