ableton not picking up controllers if already started up

ableton not picking up controllers if already started up
hey guys
of recent my ableton will not pick up controllers if ableton is already started up. its really weird and annoying!
any suggestions?

Nowadays everyone, but me, seems to have their own Ableton
And dude, don't be so lazy, pick up your controllers yourself

Are you using Live 8 on windows?

Must be, this doesn't happen on OSX.

If it is Live 8 or below on Windows, it is just what he is stuck with.
If it is Live 9, my only guess is that some other software might be using the keyboard at the same time and preventing him from using it in Live, or some other weird quirk.

nope 9.1.7 on osx. im on 10.8, maybe i should try yosemite?

I'm getting this on occasion as well.
OS X Mavericks with a Faderfox LD2 set up in Live's MIDI Preferences as a Control Surface.
I don't recall if I've experienced it with the latest beta in 64-bit because I've been going through a lot of old sets made in Live 8 & updating/saving them in Live 9 -usually in the 32-bit version.
